Hawaiian Chant: The Power, Preservation, and Perpetuation of Oli

Long before the Hawaiian people had a written language, they passed along traditional knowledge and culture through moʻolelo (story), hula (dance), mele (song & poetry), and oli (chanting.) Join us for a special evening with Kekuhi Kealiʻikanakaoleohaililani of Hālau O Kekuhi as she guides us to connect to the landscapes of Hawai`i on a deeper level. Passed down from her grandmother, Edith Kekuhi Kanakaʻole, her hula, chant, and stage performances have touched thousands of lives. This event is expected to be well attended.

When: October 17 at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Kīlauea Visitor Center auditorium
